Make a wish
I started this piece by looking at my reference picture and making a really rough digital line drawing. My initial drawing is always rough because I know that with digital painting it isn’t a problem to move or adjust anything. Changing things around isn’t a problem because everything is so flexible with digital art. The beauty of digital painting, for me, is that it knows no boundaries and is always so flexible. It’s a wonderful medium to work with.

From Photo to Canvas
You might say this tutorial isn’t an earth-shattering concept, and you’d actually be right. Looking at it from a realistic point of view, however, when it comes to the transition from a photo to, in this case, an oil painting, there’s a lot to be desired in regards to the hordes of filters we find in today’s major design software packages. I decided to experiment in order to see if I could actually do in cyberspace what I can do on a real canvas. Join me as we plunge headlong into this tutorial, our digital paintbrushes eager as we attempt to attain satisfactory results on our cyber canvases.

Goddess of the Evening Star
When beginning a painting, I like to start thinking out a small story for it. This does not need to be a complex story that has a beginning, middle or end, but it needs to have a sense of something being told. A theme, perhaps, which is what was used in this case. Here, a goddess has something she watches over and protects, which is a familiar idea for many people. Wishing on the first star of the evening, she is the one that collects and listens to everyone’s wishes.

Golden green – rich colors in asian illustration
In this tutorial I will guide you through the process of painting one of my favorite works, Golden green. It started as rough pencil sketch but eventually I left it because I didn’t feel it was best I could do for the theme I imagined – mystical person, neither man, neither woman, in subtly defined bamboo forest, with a flute. This image I had in mind for couple of weeks and it was forming slowly but led me to the concept I now want to share with you. So take your sits, grab your tablets and let’s start.

Asana
Asana is a relatively fast portrait that took me about two hours to create. In the beginning, I wanted to created a portrait of a fairy that was characteristically thin and intense, which meant creating big eyes, small lips, a nice nose, and blonde hair.

The City Slicker
I have been working on my newest artwork for almost two years. The complexity of the subject matter coupled with my attention to detail has turned this piece into a massive undertaking. Imagine a one hundred and eighty degree view of New York’s Time Square at night.
